Mena Alexandera Suvari is an American model, actress and fashion designer. She was born on 13 February 1979. After beginning her career as a model, she moved into acting, after appearing as a guest on 90's programs on television like Boy Meets World and High Incident. Her first film performance in 1997's drama Nowhere. Her performances on American Beauty - for which the actress was nominated to get the BAFTA Award - and American Pie that earned much attention as she stepped into more prominent roles. The year 2000 saw her appeared in American Pie alongside American Pie co star Jason Biggs. In 2001, she took on the leading character on the film Sugar & Spice (2000). In 2002, she starred in Spun the drama that was made by an independent studio and 2004's thriller Trauma. The actress was a part of HBO's drama show Six Feet Under. In 2004, she was recognized as an Outstanding Cast member at the Screen Actors Guild Awards. In 2008, Suvari was included in a variety of films, like Day of the Dead The Mysteries of Pittsburgh and the adaptation film of The Garden of Eden. Suvari has been a model for Lancome Paris Adaptive, and she has also appeared on several blogs and fashion magazines such as Vogue. She has been a strong supporter and campaigner for the African Medical and Research Foundation. She is also involved in issues of female empowerment and has been involved in causes that are related to breast cancer and End Violence Against Women campaign.
